A dangerous dry northerly wind surge has developed today down the Aegean Sea that lies between Greece and Turkiye. Several wildfires have either ignited or rapidly expanded in the winds during the day, mostly over western Turkiye but also two fires on the Greek island of Crete that have already killed 2 firefighters. Video is already emerging and the surge of winds is expected to continue over the next few days and so it looks like the situation will unfortunately get worse.
