Crested pigeons at Waterworth Park, Earlwood. When I was a kid I called them "party hat birds" because the crest looked to me like a party hat. The trill sound they make as they take off is actually created by two special narrow wing feathers. It's believed that the noise communicates danger to the flock. No other related pigeon species has these unusually narrow wing feathers.
