Hello Friends,
the Vibra 16 is the low-budget variant of the famous Soundblaster 16. It features an internal OPL3 FM synthesizer clone called CQM which I demonstrate with the following games music:
00:00 Gabriel Knight
02:45 Tyrian
04:13 The Secret of Monkey Island
05:47 Amberstar
The card has a low noise floor and a good sound quality in my opinion. Sadly creative does not add a wavetable-header so for General Midi music you need an external module. The Vibra was very common and therefore is available and cheap on the 2nd hand marked.
Regarding the OPL3-clone, please let me know in the comments if you like it or not. For me it is a good alternative to the original - not as good as ESS FM but better than Crystal-FM.
