Plastic straws are necessary medical tools and creating legal bans endangers the lives of disabled people. In this video I talk about the history of its use, why alternatives do not work, the variety of ways banning them is dangerous and stigmatizing, and my hope that environmentalism becomes more intersectional and acknowledges the needs of disabled people without dismissing them as lazy or wasteful.

Spoilers! (CW: visuals of blood, re: vampire, werewolf transformations, hanging scene, discussion of grief & loss, death) The U.S. version of Being Human is a show that I started watching when it originally premiered in 2011, but for a time period after I didn’t have cable so I fell behind. I picked it up again this year to finish the final two seasons on Netflix.
When I started watching the show I wasnt as ill as I am today, in fact, at that point I wouldnt have considered myself to be ill at all. So when I picked the show up again I was washed over by a wave of metaphors by the series and decided to rewatch the whole thing.
Because its an older show I will be absolutely analyzing this with full-on spoilers so I recommend watching this video if youve already seen the series or if you dont mind being spoiled!

While having a mild brain fog episode I decided to try to talk about brain fog, what it is, how its been affecting my life, and working through my internalized ableism (and where it comes from). Something I didnt really talk about was different coping mechanisms (like rewinding content, using audio descriptions AND captions when watching films, etc) so Id love to hear yours! Leave them in the comments below!
EDIT: For those who may not know, neurodivergence is not the same thing as cognitive impairment, hence I said Ive been neurodivergent and was already bullied for that, cognitive impairment relates to the same ableism that made my neurodivergence a target, so they are related in that way.

Its been a hard weekend filled with loss, filled with fear, and so... this isnt perfect. No track of me singing is perfect, but Im asking for kindness and consideration in these difficult times. Music and theater are healing and is part of my self care. Im holding on for women and for the LGBT+ community and the Latinx community, who fight to survive every day. My home was hit. My community was hit. At the time I recorded this, while the majority of my friends are safe and accounted for I was still refreshing the names of the deceased every few minutes.

Hello, hello! My name is Annie, my pronouns are she/her, and Im a QWoC, body positive, wheelchair user, disabled and chronically ill person (or spoonie).
I create videos five days a week (as long as my health allows) usually introspective topics, social topics, sharing my experiences and point of view with/on disability, body image, sex/gender/dating, gender equality, etc, as well as a variety of music/artistic media, tags/challenges, and day-in-the-life vlogs.

In this video, I talk about how the decision to get a puppy was made, how caring for her has gone in regards to my illnesses, her character, and whether or not she may become a service dog.
I forgot to explain her age in the video so Ill do so here. She IS young, she was separated from her mom young, its not customary for puppies to separate from mom and litter until about 2 months but thats the situation we found ourselves in (we didnt know how young she was until she was already settled with us). Its not optimal but it happens and were doing all the work to make sure she gets all that she needs.
