Let’s see what happens when I work on some mini art studies.

Mini art studies are quick, low-stakes pieces on small scraps of paper, and that's exactly what I'm making today. I show you the difference between a formal study, like the ones behind my giant oyster project, and a completely informal one, where the point is just getting your hands moving.

Using Inktense blocks, watercolor pencils, and fluid acrylics, I chase shape and color instead of my usual layered chaos, and hit a rough patch partway through that I decided to share anyway. Grab some paper scraps and come play. All supplies are linked below.
