Just casually making a microcosmic universe, nbd. This dazzling Reel from @l__evans was filmed using a 120mm macro lens with a combination of water, acrylic ink, and mica. A photographer and self-described experimental artist, Luke tells us that he has only recently started filming himself as he creates little galaxies, not scripting anything, just sharing genuine captivating moments on @instagram.
“I make my Reels with Edits, and I particularly love how it's able to keep all the detail and ties in so well directly with Instagram—quite a few people have asked me how I get the Reels to look so detailed!”
Luke credits his IG presence for exposing him to art directors, getting his work published in magazines and even helping him find new assistants and stylists for shoots.
“What's surprised me the most is now when I go to events, people actually know what I look like, so I get approached and have conversations with people who otherwise might have missed me! Just this week I've met with two other photographers who found me through my Reels, and we were able to talk really deeply about the highs and lows of being an artist, exploring new, positive ideas of how to share work, and how Instagram is helping smaller accounts like mine break out—it was a really refreshing experience.”
