In this spooktakular video I'll take you behind the scenes of a Medusa inspired Halloween shoot using the Nanlite Pavotubes constant lights. 🎃
I love this time of year as it allows me to really be creative and do some colorful fun shoots. I immediately took to Etsy in search of something that we could use for this shoot, and alas I came across this gorgeous snake headpiece.
I wanted to try something a bit different and lately I've really been feeling these constant lights from Nanlite. You basically have an endless supply of gels at your disposal with o need to find if you have that gel, tape them back on the light etc. It's all built into the light! The new version is really cool and even app controlled! I can choose the exact hue and saturation I want. I've even used some of these to light my livestreams and create some ambience! 😆
So on to the shoot.
Since I was using constant lights I had to use a higher ISO but that was totally fine as the R5 can completely handle it with basically zero noise.
This shoot is all about experimentation and as you can see from the video you basically can position these lights anywhere to build up the scene.
I could have just left this with 2 lights but I decided to keep building until we got the final shot. I really even loved how it came out with just the green and blue!
Now you may know that when you mix red, green and blue, some interesting things start to happen with light. For example, where there are shadows you start to see CYMK colors. Rather than introduce a straight red color, I opted for more of a Halloween orange which still resulted in some amazing color mixing! 6:42
Lastly I used 2 additional lights as rim lights on the model just using white light.
