In this series, we're crafting a custom sound palette for a fictional Netflix-style TV show—Shifting Tides—set in 1980s Tokyo at the height of the financial boom. The best part? The resulting virtual instrument will be 100% FREE, thanks to my company Sonora Cinematic.

In this episode, we take a deep dive into character development, explore rich new settings (including Tokyo’s underground nightlife and a mysterious countryside retreat), and start designing the emotional heart of our score: a custom string ensemble with a twist.

🎵 Highlights include:

- Building playable ensemble string patches that morph from intimate to cinematic and dramatic
- Programming unison doubling and dynamic crossfades in Kontakt
- Augmenting acoustic strings with OB-6 synth strings for a unique hybrid sound
