We hand-make a 48GB RTX 4090 NVIDIA GPU with Zhang Ge in China, finally releasing our full shop tour of his GPU repair facility. With never-before-seen footage of his shop in combination with our prior-shown footage of the 48GB mod, we show the industry in China keeping old video cards alive and circulating for users. Customers include everyone from gaming users trying to save money on a repair rather than a replacement to enterprise users. Gamers can get a far better deal asking Zhang to repair their video card, sometimes for around $140 US, rather than buying a totally new video card. In particular due to export controls, this can be useful to keeping hard-to-get silicon in circulation. Enterprise users sometimes want 10-20 48GB RTX 4090s at once for training or inference tasks. Zhang's team is incredibly talented at GPU repair and modding, and we appreciate the time they took to welcome us in.
