Crazy Tube Circuits tested numerous tubes to match the original EI Long-Plate 12AX7 (ECC83), with the ECC832 (12DW7) emerging as the best fit (half ECC82/ECC83) offering enhanced note separation and a broader tonal range. But if you have a preference, swapping the tube is a breeze, just adjust the Bias to find the sweet spot or starve it further for extra sag and fuzz.
Venus includes features from the rack version and mods, such as Tight mode to trim low-mids, an added Mid band to help match to any amp and a versatile Line Driver/Buffer/Boost which improves fidelity. Running on a standard 9V DC supply (internally boosted to 15V), its transformer-less design offers lower noise and fits in a compact enclosure half the original’s size!
