Basic Info About this Prototype Build:
This prototype build of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped was the earliest version of the build which was made of the E3 1998 showfloor before getting repurposed as a preview build and was sent out by SCEA and SCEE. The build was dated on 14th May 1998 and it is the first pre-release build distributed by SCEE, from the green "News Version" disc. It eventually saw a release for the public on 1st June 2026.
Among the main highlights of the prototype build include:
- No gems to collect for this build.
- A different Time Twister and load/save monitor designs.
- An early Medieval-themed BGM which was previously unheard.
- A futuristic bonus round in Gee Wiz.
- A caveman lab assistant riding the Triceratops (also seen in other released builds but not in the final release of the game) during the chase sequence in Bone Yard.
- Early version of several sound effects.
- A different design for Tomb Time's hard / purple gem path's gate.
