The Demon UAV developed by Cranfield University, BAE Systems and nine other UK universities has completed its first "flapless flight", using fluidic flight control instead of conventional aerodynamic surfaces for roll control. On the Sep 17 flight over Cumbria, the convetional ailerons were turned off and air jets blown from the trailing edge of the wing used for roll control.
