In 2024, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessed our diverse range of adult care services.
The CQC has rated Hertfordshire’s adult care service as ‘good’ across eight of the nine areas inspected and it thinks the way we work with partners is ‘outstanding’. They also found that people who use our services are positive about their experiences and the support they receive.
Our adult care services support more than 14,000 adults in Hertfordshire each year to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
We put the people who use our services at the heart of how we work, supporting them to be in control of the care and support they receive. The CQC recognised this personalised approach to adult social care as being a strength, along with our focus on preventative work to prevent or delay people needing more support, meaning they are able to live independently.
The care quality commission thinks the way we work with partners is delivering really positive outcomes for people who use our services.
This includes how we’re working with the NHS to provide a seamless service to support people leave hospital safely and maintain their independence. In addition to our collaborative work with voluntary and community organisations to deliver support and services to people in their local community.
We value the feedback of people who use our services and try to use their experiences to shape our services through co-production.

At our assessment of Hertfordshire County Council, we found a strong leadership team who had a good understanding of the adult social care needs of people living in the area. They also had a good grasp of what was working well and also where they needed to focus their attention on improvement. Overall, Hertfordshire County Council should be really pleased with this assessment.
