The Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO), along with the Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) and other tribal bodies, held a peace rally on July 17 at New Medziphema Village, starting at 10 am.
Under the theme “Protest against non-acknowledgement of Traditional Landowners and the Government's inaction,” the participants proceeded to the ADC's Office in Medziphema.
There, they submitted an 8-point charter of demands addressed to the Chief Secretary of Nagaland, through ADC James Swu.
The rally reaffirmed their position as traditional landowners and called on the state government to take action on the long-standing land dispute with Maova Village.
