Reports show that women and girls are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Also known as the “Shadow Pandemic,” women and girls have experienced increased rates of domestic violence. Students at Kusi Kawsay Andean School, Elizangela Salas Ochoa, Miriam Gallegos Pacco, Kusi Samy Franco Minaja, and Flor Melany Pare Merma recognized this and inspired their classmates to create change through a video series aimed at the Peruvian government. We’re proud to honor them as Community Heroes.
