With Christmas and the summer school holidays fast approaching, we are dedicating this month's episode of Cover to Cover to a survey of some of the wonderful homegrown titles for children and young people that have been published in 2017.

Host Meri Fatin talks with Jan Nicholls, President of the Children's Book Council (WA), and Jennifer Jackson, Director of Paper Bird Children's Books and Arts, about some of their favourite books of the year.

Exploring one the most personal and politically charged experiences in many women’s lives — motherhood — this collection of poems was born within the vortex of America’s changing social landscape as Obama’s message of inclusion gave way to a wave of Trump emboldened exclusion.
