Could the next generation of GLP-1 drugs give us all the benefits — with none of the nausea?

New research out of the University of Pennsylvania says it might be possible. Scientists at Penn’s School of Nursing and Perelman School of Medicine just published a study on a compound called Ex-Phe-1 — a modified GLP-1 receptor agonist that uses a mechanism called “biased agonism” to selectively activate only the pathways that control blood sugar, while dialing back the ones that cause nausea and vomiting.
