Could Rachel Reeves start taxing interest earned within Stocks and Shares ISAs?

From April 2027, the Cash ISA limit for under-65s drops from £20,000 to £12,000 and the chancellor is reportedly looking at closing the backdoor too, with a 22% tax on interest earned from cash held inside a Stocks and Shares ISA.

The S&S ISA is still one of the most powerful tax wrapper out there for long-term investing, but the rules could be shifting fast.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions, including how cash-like investments such as Overnight Rate ETFs will be treated, and whether a token stock holding could offer a workaround (though nothing's confirmed yet).
