I discuss with Helen if we could play 5906 on traditional English church bells.

UPDATE: I believe the shortest gap is 5 and the longest is 9. Interesting. My results are below but please do verify them yourself.

For symbol 1 the longest was 8 at position 507 and the shortest was 5 at position 131
For symbol 2 the longest was 8 at position 29 and the shortest was 5 at position 180
For symbol 3 the longest was 8 at position 496 and the shortest was 5 at position 229
For symbol 4 the longest was 8 at position 439 and the shortest was 5 at position 278
For symbol 5 the longest was 8 at position 1057 and the shortest was 5 at position 819
For symbol 6 the longest was 8 at position 1275 and the shortest was 5 at position 360
For symbol 7 the longest was 9 at position 129 and the shortest was 6 at position 38

Just counting gaps of 5 and 9:

For symbol 1 the were 5 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
For symbol 2 the were 3 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
For symbol 3 the were 2 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
For symbol 4 the were 3 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
For symbol 5 the were 2 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
For symbol 6 the were 2 gaps of length 5 and 0 gaps of length 9
