The newest game in the Cotton series came out earlier this month, and I finally had time to sit down and try to beat it! It was honestly a lot easier than I anticipated; with the sole exception of the train stage having tons of obstacles that straight up killed me, I only had like one or two deaths per stage and got this 1cc on the first attempt. It plays much like Cotton Rock n' Roll, only that the stages are in a linear order this time around. Music's pretty good, and the visuals seemed pretty nice! ...The only catch is that apparently my PC wasn't strong enough to run this at 1440p or even 1080p without framedrops, so I had to drop this to 900p in order to get a consistent 60fps. Hopefully this is just a weird issue that'll get patched out?
If there's one thing that actually kinda bothered me, it's that the cutscenes can drag on quite a bit compared to the actual stages. The biggest offender to me was the cutscene right after the train stage, where the story just slowed to a crawl as they tried to explain how to destroy a barrier that was blocking the way to the castle, and it just kept going. The cherry on top was that the stage right after was another rail shooter bonus stage that was over in like a minute, tops. To be fair, this is only a minor issue because I can just skip these on a repeat playthrough, and the story is otherwise alright (even if it is a bit on the sillier side, as usual for the Cotton series).
Overall, pretty solid game! I get the feeling I'll be replaying this quite a bit!

![Hagane: The Final Conflict - 1cc/No Commentary [SNES, 1994]
I decided to play through Hagane: The Final Conflict after seeing a clip of it when browsing Twitter the other day. I dont think I had ever heard of this game prior, but it looked pretty fun from what Id seen of it. I was not disappointed! The stages are fun and mostly dont overstay their welcome, the musics got that great Neo-Japanese flair, the bosses are pretty fun to fight, and Haganes moveset is diverse and powerful! I loved messing around with the different moves Hagane could do!
If theres any real issue I have with the game, its that the game rarely requires or encourages you to actually make use of the rotation moves. Sure, theyre pretty flashy, but its often faster and safer to just swipe at enemies with your sword or spam projectiles. Though to be fair, this might just be a result of me not playing the game over and over yet, and there might be more areas where it makes sense to use them.
Also, at a first glance, the story doesnt really go into much detail in-game. The US manual *does* go into the ongoing feud between the Fuma and Koma Clans, as well as show the backstory of Hagane himself, but it doesnt really explain anything about the various enemies or bosses (more specifically, who is that mysterious man who appears in 2-1, 4-1 and 5-1?). The Japanese manual does look like it goes into a bit more detail, but I havent had a chance to delve into that yet. This isnt a huge deal for me, but it did leave me more curious than anything.
In any case, I had a great time playing this! It definitely seems like the kind of game Id play again later on!

If youre paying attention to the timestamps, you might notice that this remix was made last year. I had this all ready to go, but for whatever reason I did not feel confident enough to publish this until now. Im posting it now because it was bugging me that this was left unposted for so long. I hope it turned out alright regardless!

Earlier this week, I had planned to release a Famitracker version of this song instead of posting my Pizza Tower arrange. However, just before that went live I went to listen to the version used in Donkey Kong Land 3 just for fun, only to find it didnt exist. As such, I decided to convert that cover to the Game Boy the following day. I also ended up doing an impromptu stream showcasing that process, though Im not sure I did the best job conveying my thoughts during it... Since the Famitracker version is still uploaded, I might post that later if youre interested!

This was the other arrangement I contributed to Fran Yomogiyas Touhou chiptune album, Gensokyo Retro Carnival! Unlike LUNARIUS, this one was more of a straight cover of the song. Ive wanted to do another PC-98 remix from Trojan Green Asteroid for a while, and this was a perfect excuse to do so. Hope it turned out alright!

EMERGENCY IN SECTOR 3
DL Folder: https://mega.nz/folder/w1ti3a7A#2qWwSnBa7jQb3bDYBuwz0Q
...Okay, so I have a confession: This was actually intended for last year. My grand plan was to release this on Metroid Prime 4s release date alongside an NES version of Sector 5s theme to act as a shared winter remix, since both songs *do* play in Sector 5 at some point. I scrapped this for a couple of reasons. First, I wasnt fond of how short Sector 5s theme is, so most of the video wouldve been the Crisis Mission theme. Second, even for my standards, this might be pushing it since the song initially plays during Sector 3, which is as far away from winter as possible. As a result, I saved it for early on this year instead.
As a bonus, though, Ive included the Sector 5 theme in the download folder, so hope you enjoy!
