On Jan 10, at the 4th Gen Xeon and Max Series family product launch, #Intel showcased performance results of the MLPerf High Performance Computing (#HPC) benchmark CosmoFlow on Intel® Xeon® CPU Max Series. CosmoFlow is an AI model from Cosmology with 3D convolutions written in TensorFlow with Keras that uses Horovod for Distributed Training. For the purpose of this demo, Intel trained CosmoFlow on a single node on a reduced dataset for a few epochs to observe performance on different configurations. Overall, the Intel Xeon CPU Max Series with high bandwidth memory is very competitive and shines on HPC AI workloads such as CosmoFlow, against the competition, thus accelerating discovery for the HPC community.
