Youtube Famous atheist Alex Oconner quotes C.S. Lewis Apologists prayer. In quoting C.S. Lewis’ prayer, he unknowingly was praising a poem which has a striking resemblance to Biblical themes on a sense of God’s absence in our suffering.
Via C.S. Lewis institute:

Lewis knew that the Gospel was not about him or his well crafted arguments or stories. It’s about God and his work. In a poem I continue to return to, Lewis the poet and Lewis the apologist meet. I hope it will greet you with humility, as it does me every time I read it.

From all my lame defeats and oh! much more
From all the victories that I seemed to score;
From cleverness shot forth on Thy behalf
At which, while angels weep, the audience laugh;
From all my proofs of Thy divinity,
Thou, who wouldst give no sign, deliver me.
Thoughts are but coins. Let me not trust, instead
Of Thee, their thin-worn image of Thy head.
From all my thoughts, even from my thoughts of Thee,
O thou fair Silence, fall, and set me free.
Lord of the narrow gate and the needle’s eye,
Take from me all my trumpery lest I die.

This reminds me much of Psalm 21, famously quoted by The Lord when on the cross in our place:

“Oh God, My God, hear me; why have you forsaken me? The words of my transgressions are far from my salvation. O my God, I will cry out by day, but you will not hear me; And
By night, but not for a lack of understanding in me.
But You dwell among the saints, O praise of Israel.

Our fathers hoped in you;
They hoped in You and you delivered them. They cried out to you and were saved. They hoped in You and were not ashamed. But I am a worm, and not a man. A reproach of man and despised by The People. All who see me Mock me; They speak with their lips and shake their head, Saying “He hoped in the Lord, let him rescue him; Let him save him since he delights in him.

Interesting, you ma find it then , how this cry in Psalms written more than 500 years before Christ lines up with Mathew 27, as The Lord is on the cross
“Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying “You who are going to destroy the temple and built it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the ross, if you are the Son of God” In the same way the chief prises, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. “He saved others” they said “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe him. He trust in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said I am The Son of God.
