This public webinar was hosted by Dr Stephen Grimes. During the webinar he introduced the Cosmic Dust in the City project, which is a University of Plymouth public engagement and citizen science initiative that invites communities to help find cosmic visitors, otherwise known as micrometeorites, at home, in schools, and in workplaces, transforming rooftops and gutters into portals to the cosmos.
The session began with a short presentation in which Stephen outlined the aims of the project, the scientific questions it seeks to address, and the methods used to find and study micrometeorites. The talk was designed to be accessible to a general audience and, during the talk, Stephen placed micrometeorites in a broader context, including their relevance to marine science, climate change, and planetary processes.
After the presentation, there was a moderated question-and-answer session that provided attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with Stephen and the rest of the project team.
