ABOUT THIS COVER

This is a tune I never thought I'd actually cover. I think Corridors of Time is up there with Aquatic Ambiance as one of the defining songs of the SNES. Mitsuda is an incredible composer and I don’t think just doing a straight metal cover of one of his pieces would do them justice. I never really considered doing this one until now because RichaadEB’s cover was always the definitive metal version of this track to me.
This arrangement was heavily based on Erised by Periphery. That song (and Periphery II as a whole) sparked most of my ideas for this cover. I think I actually listened to Erised while working on this one more than I listened to Corridors of Time lol. It definitely started to get its own identity as I came up with more of the arrangement though. I tried not to take too much from Rich’s cover, but the ending section was actually inspired by the ending of his cover of Ruins from Undertale. Of course, I had to have my boy J-Trigger do a Petrucci style solo on that part as a nod to the ending of Erised, and he absolutely killed it! Be sure to check out his work if you haven’t, he’s an absolute beast of a guitarist and arranger.
I really tried to pull all the stops with the mixing and production on this one. I completely changed the way I mixed drums (big thanks to Kade Kalka for helping me with that), and there’s like 3 compressors on the bass now lol. It’s not perfect of course, but I think this is as close as it’s gonna get. I’m gonna stop rambling now. I’m really frickin' happy with this one.
