Corning Incorporated leaders mourned the loss of Amory (Amo) Houghton Jr., 93, who died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at his home in Corning, N.Y. Houghton served Corning as chairman and chief executive officer from 1964 until 1983, establishing the company on a course toward a high-technology future with the development of optical fiber. He then went on to serve nine terms in the U.S. House of Representatives.
