Lately, I’ve been gradually working on
improving a small break area in the factory.
It may not be a full lounge yet, but I’m happy
that the staff now have a place where they can grab a cup of coffee
and enjoy a quick snack.
After building a cabinet for the coffee machine,
a stand for the water purifier, a sliding shelf,
and even a chocolate ball vending machine,
I decided to make what might be the most essential item of all — a trash can.
Of course, we could have continued using the old blue plastic bin,
but since the space is being decorated with wood,
I wanted to make one that matches the overall look.
The design features a right triangular prism shape,
and it’s built to be sturdy enough for comfortable everyday use.
Then I realized something —
even though we now have a coffee machine, a water purifier,
and a coffee mix storage box,
there wasn’t actually a table to prepare coffee.
Since the trash can would be placed right next to the water purifier,
I thought its top panel could double as a small table.
That’s also why I installed LED lighting
underneath the chocolate ball vending machine earlier.
This project may seem like a relatively simple DIY build,
but it contains a few interesting design ideas.
You might find it useful as inspiration for utilizing corner spaces,
or adapt the idea to create an even nicer piece of furniture.
