AYYYYYYYYY WELCOME TO THE CORE BROTHERS AND SISTERS 😎🪩
I’m finally back after quite the hectic November and December. Had some stuff going on that sort of occupied my ENTIRE life. But I’m slowly getting back on track and looking forward to giving you guys one of the best years of Typho yet! 😎
Today I bring you my remix of CORE from UNDERTALE!!!! I dont really do UNDERTALE remixes as much as I want to sadly. But I’ve been planning this CORE remix since I released my Another Medium remix 3 years ago now. In that Another Medium thumbnail, I wrote CORE in the rocks somewhere, SO THERES MY PROOF. But the reason why it took so long to make a proper CORE remix was literally just because I didn’t know what direction to take the remix. I was doing all sorts of remixes, like a slower chill remix, more upbeat and intense remixes, then one day I thought, “yknow what, a 90s house inspired remix of CORE would go crazy.” So I did just that! I had SO much fun just adding random instruments, little breakdown sections, the tiny details, that’s what matters most. And when mixing, I think I had the most luck. I tried to make sure everything has its spot in the mix. I am worried about one part of the mix though… and that’s the bass. I used a recreation of the Korg M1s iconic Organ Bass patch and the thing that is so niche about this sound is that it has an overtone 7 semitones above the root note… so it kind of doesn’t work in some chord progressions if there isn’t a 7th note. So sometimes in this mix, it creates some dissonance. I’m writing this BEFORE I post the remix so I might do some tweaking and make sure that when a 7th doesn’t work, I’ll change the semitones up by one or down by one to make it fit but also keep that iconic sound. So yeah, if anyone is gonna use the Korg M1 Organ Bass, KEEP THAT IN MIND 😭. But, to pat myself on the back a little… I think it’s one of my best mixes to date I’m extremely proud of this remix and I hope that you guys enjoy it as much as I do! 😎🙏
Now the art section… GOSH this piece took me over 25 hours of work. I started off with sketches. And nothing was sticking. Then a few more ideas later I had this thought of being able to see the underside of the bridge a little, and having the pillars be upfront. And so I started sketching and sketching, adding little details to make it feel much more “CORE-like”
I ended up with basically what you see now! I tried to add as many of the stronger monsters I could fit in, but I think I missed two, lack of space 😔 The HARDEST part of this drawing was literally just converting all the layers into FL Studios video editor and making sure all the layers are intact and not showing any cracks. I had to go back and alter the drawing so many times to make sure no faults were showing. And then once that was done, I started editing the lights and colors. That was so fun to do. Seeing it all come together at the end was amazing. I think I may have to put an epilepsy warning at the start… 💀
But as all my descriptions go, this is the end of my overview of my process and what I enjoyed and disliked the most 😎👍 I hope you all have a wonderful day and keep being the best community I could have ever asked for 💜 I LOVE YOU ALL
