For a rising Turbo artist, your second release is what really makes you part of the family, culminating in a “Blood In, Blood Out” ritual held in Tiga’s basement rumpus room. “LFOs and Creatures,” Cora Novoa's second EP for the Canadian imprint, explores the terrifyingly fertile intersection between synthesizers and the unholy fiends of the nighttime world (but thankfully not Count Dracula, a deeply unhappy man).
The title track sees the Spanish techno producer and researcher harnessing previously undiscovered presets and tempos to expand the very limits of peak the as we currently understand it. Meanwhile, non-title tracks “Digital Identities” and “Self Control” push the boundaries even further, evoking a machine-only industrial warehouse rave where the conveyor belts, lathes, and double-arm extruders can finally let it all out on the dance floor. The EP closes with lead single “Oracle,” a piece of hypnotic ambient pop that will make you question whether we live in a simulation a full eight years after even Bank of America weighed in on the subject.
Now comes the uncomfortable part. Ideally, music should be free and for the most part it functionally is. But for the purposes of this discussion, we are compelled to remind you that this EP is for sale. Please try to think of it as less of a transaction and more as a symbolic gesture of the profound respect and gratitude you feel when you think about listening to our music.
