This session explains how you can best protect your rights as an author/creator and how you can get permission to use the works of others (such as maps, tables, graphs, quotes) in your publications or thesis.

• Understand the basics of how you have copyright in your works
• Develop a range of strategies to deal with licenses you may be asked to sign
• Understand how to get permission to sue the works of others.
