Dr. Baltes, a Wayne State University scholar, leader and mentor, passed away on Aug. 21. During his 27 years at WSU, he served as a dedicated faculty member, department chair, senior vice provost, and interim dean of both the College of Education and the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts. He was a trusted leader who lent his expertise to contract negotiations, strategic planning and countless committees, and whose calm, kind and thoughful presence touched all who knew him. Wayne State is a better place because of his intellect, grace and unwavering dedication.
