This webinar, "Cooking for Climate: Solutions for Clean Cooking to Advance the SDG Agenda," was co-hosted by the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET) and the United Nations Development Programme’s Sustainable Energy Hub. Given that 2.1 billion people around the world still depend on food cooked over polluting open fires or inefficient stoves, this 60-minute event highlighted the urgent need to advance clean cooking technologies and solutions. Expert panelists discussed how clean cooking is not just a technology issue but requires a complex systems approach, integrating public health, climate, and gender equity. The discussion examined the institutions that can support this work, through increased funding access to systemic policy frameworks, partnerships, and standardized carbon credit methodologies under Article 6. Overall, the session emphasized how the world has the technological solutions to advance clean cooking access, and now the right policy efforts and financial mechanisms must be mobilized to ensure everyone has safe and sufficient energy for cooking.
