This video is a short flyover of one of Klean Industries waste to energy facilities in the United States. The fully permitted facility employs 22 people full time and processes over 110,000 metric tonnes of waste biomass per year. This plant produces clean renewable energy from urban wood wastes which are diverted from landfills, agricultural byproducts from nearby orchards and forest sourced materials generated from additional forest thinning projects throughout the great State of California.
This $90m dollar facility using a Circulation Fluidized Bed Boiler (CFB) to converts biomass feedstock in a controlled manner, into heat to produce superheated steam which then drives a Siemens Steam Turbine-Generator to produce over 18 megawatts of green, CO2 neutral electricity.
Using biomass to produce electricity reduces our reliance on fossil fuels, the nation's primary energy sources for electricity, and the largest contributors to air pollution and greenhouse gases. Biomass electricity offers alternatives with many benefits:
1) Our supply of biomass is renewable, meaning it will never run out.
2) Electricity produced by biomass reduces the threat of global climate change.
3) Using biomass waste eliminates the need to place it in landfills.
4) Clearing biomass from wooded areas helps prevent forest fires.
