Dan Massad is one of the finest pastel artists working today. His pastels are noteworthy not only for their refined technique but also for their multivalent references. Eric Denker, senior lecturer in the education division, interviews the artist on his work and pastel techniques, in conjunction with the exhibition The Touch of Color: Pastels at the National Gallery of Art which features Massad’s pastel Breach (2009).
