I cannot begin to explain how much I loved making this arrangement! A little while ago, I did a reaction to Control's Wishes and absolutely loved it. I wasn't kidding. I had been deciding for a while what Arknights remix to do for the first ever one. While there were some suggests for No Bet, No Life (which I will still do at some point), I wanted to go bigger for the first one. So to me it was either this or Somniomancer.
In terms of the arrangement itself:
I started by knowing what I wanted to do after the countdown sequence. I just needed to work my way up to it. So the intro just made sense for my style. I'm a sucker for a piano opening I'll be honest. Then came the build up section. I admittedly didn't listen to the original much for this. I just wanted to have fun and experiment with different ideas: orchestral instruments, synths, electric guitar and more.
Grabbing the original video of the Voyager 1 launch was a lot of fun! Took me a little while to find the correct space shuttle launch. I should have just checked the Arknights Wiki in hindsight, but hey I got to listen to and compare space rocket launch countdown sequences which was surprisingly fun! Anyway, I took the recording, cleaned it up a little and then paced the countdown in the same way Control's Wishes does.
We then finish with the big section after the countdown! I almost wanted it to sound heroic in nature. I asked a question a few weeks ago on the community tab here on YouTube for people's descriptions of Kristen Wright. Some examples of phrases that I received were: Seeker, pioneer, "ends justifies the means," and someone who seeks the truth even if the method is questionable. I really liked the tension of achieving dreams but not caring about hurting people along the way. That's the feel I wanted to get across with the final section.
