23 ABY, at the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin IV...
Kyle Katarn, Jedi Battlemaster, has had a history of facing his inner demons and the Dark Side of the Force within himself. Seeking guidance and a chance to control himself should he be tempted again, he asks Grand Master Luke Skywalker for advice. Luke tells Kyle of the former great Master Mace Windu, who used aspects of the Dark Side in pursuit of the Light Side of the Force. He tells Kyle to seek out his spirit in order to possibly gain knowledge on the matter. Kyle meditates for sometime before he's compelled to go to the training chambers, where he sees the shimmering spirit of Mace Windu. The long dead master telepathically tells Kyle that in order to recieve his guidance, he must defeat him in combat to prove his worthiness...
