I put this one ages ago on my alt soundcloud account, decided I should upload it here cause it'd make sense.
Definitely not the best cover but at the time I saw some of the music the actual C64 port of Contra had and I was like "why", I decided to see how exactly could they do better (and maybe this isn't ingame-viable but hey it was enough to prompt me to do something).
Anyway hot take: I don't think the SID sounds good. Yeah I know you can do actually great stuff with it but the difficulty you have working with it isn't worth it. I'd rather have 6 of those in a synthesizer and use it like I'd use any other analog synthesizers, it's almost designed for that too, so that must've been the original intention.
