Often in the evenings after piano practice etc, I'll just sit and improvise simply with piano and maybe some other fairly basic sounds etc just for no reason really..I rarely record these but figured I would start keeping and sharing some of the more interesting improvisations occasionally.
Also you might noticed the Roland Fantom-08 that I now use which has replaced my NI S88 mk2. I got the Fantom based on reviews suggesting the keybed (PHA-4) and action was far superior to the S88...They weren't wrong! The keybed is so much better, and also lighter and faster than the S88, there's also a really nice texture to the keys. In comparison the S88 feels heavy, and like you're pushing down on a heavy sponge - it just doesn't feel amazing in comparison and I'm glad I upgraded, even though the Fantom-08 has no aftertouch at all, but imo that's not a big loss and I would rather use a good expression pedal over imprecise aftertouch any day. I now wonder just how much of an improvement a Roland PHA-50 keybed would feel..
Piano is a custom instrument layer I made in Bitwig Studio, it's a combination of The Gentleman and Noire piano libraries, heavily tweaked and then processed through a few different FX. Other sounds are from Slate & Ash Choreographs kontakt library.
