Construction of nine new artificial reefs on the St. Clair River northeast of Detoit, a project led by the Michigan Sea Grant program, is expected to boost populations of lake sturgeon and other rare native fish by providing river-bottom rock mounds where they can spawn. Michigan Sea Grant is a cooperative program of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.
