Before entering politics, former President Barack Obama was a professor of constitutional law. He certainly knows that the First Amendment protects our right to speak freely, whether we’re right or wrong, in private or in public. When he says that social media platforms should moderate content more aggressively, and then says that we also need “democratic oversight” of the process, he knows what that implies. President Obama doesn’t misunderstand the U.S. Constitution; he rejects it.
