American politics has become so dysfunctional that people are becoming alarmed about the future of the republic. Does the Constitution give us any clues about a way out of this mess? This lecture will look at the Founding era and the political philosophy behind the Constitution before turning to some contemporary Constitutional controversies. Can we as a nation find sufficient common ground to resolve, or at least learn to live with, our disagreements?
