The life and reign of Constantine V (741-775). A survivor of a bubonic plague epidemic, rebellion, conspiracies, fought the Arabs. Though he lost Ravenna he was a Hammer of the Bulgars and recovered Thrace. Remembered by his enemies as the shit-named persecutor of Iconophiles and more favourably as a dragon-slayer who was the 'new Constantine'.
