Can a machine have subjective experience? What would that require of machines, and of experience itself? Can the structure and function of consciousness be understood with enough precision to recreate it artificially?
The Consciousness Track explores artificial phenomenology, the "what it's like" aspect of consciousness, alongside the scientific and philosophical foundations of machine consciousness. While access consciousness concerns the functional availability of information for reasoning and action, phenomenal experience remains one of the most challenging and least understood questions in AI research. This workshop brings together researchers to examine how consciousness can be characterized, studied, and potentially implemented in future intelligent systems.
