Hey fam!
Maybe you found my work through the docu-series Finding Lola - my Louisiana Creole great-grandmother who became French in New York. That's one half of her family. This is the other half — the Choctaw-Apache community of Ebarb.
Most people have never heard of Ebarb. It's a small community in Sabine Parish, on the Texas line, with roots that go back to a Spanish fort built in 1721. My family was already there.
Let's chat and I'll take you through parts of my family tree! And I'll show you what it looks like when a family chooses to stay visible instead of disappearing into the record.
PLUS — Choctaw Apache Voices Volume 2 just came out, and I'm in it! That's what finally got me to do this one. Being asked to contribute to a book written by the community as a part of it was an incredible part of this journey.
