Carla Marina Marchese, a beekeeper, honey expert and author, said spotted lanternflies have already affected the honey produced by her hives.

While she said she hasn't had it chemically tested to confirm the source, she said the flavor was consistent with other spotted lanternfly-influenced honeys she had tasted and she has seen lanternflies and their honeydew in her backyard.
