Conklin Pens was founded in 1898; they introduced their Crescent filling system in 1901. This was their signature filling system and a source of pride for the company, which unfortunately ceased operations in 1948. They were revived by Yafabrands in the 2000s.

The Mark Twain Crescent pen in reportedly handmade in Florence, Italy. The Limited EditionAll-American is "manufactured in Asia, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California".
