Twenty-five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks transformed the nation’s security apparatus, Congress is taking a new look at the intelligence reforms created in their aftermath and whether they are equipped to confront the threats facing the United States today.

Members of the House Intelligence Committee met Monday in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the 40 passengers and crew members aboard United Airlines Flight 93 lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.

Passengers and crew fought back against the hijackers, forcing the plane down in a field before it could reach its intended target, believed to have been either the U.S. Capitol or the White House.
