Understanding Music | Concerto for Group and Orchestra by Deep Purple - Is it Good? @UnderstandingMusic | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 19 hours ago.
In 1969, the rock group Deep Purple and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra collaborated to perform Concerto for Group and Orchestra. The work is in three movements, which is common for concerti. Also common with a concerto is having a smaller group of instruments (called the solo or concertino group) play with the orchestra. The music was composed by the keyboardist for Deep Purple, Jon Lord, and the lyrics were written by the singer for the band, Ian Gillan.
