π± Computer Science is DOOMED? π±
If we look at the evolution of programming each new level led to FASTER development times.
With AI thatβs being taken to a whole new level.
The Goal of CS (Computer Science) has always been that programs are Built, Maintained and Understood by Humans.
But human SUCK at all of this.
Humans suck at writing code.
Humans suck at maintaining code bases.
Humans have a hard time understanding how code works.
Now, there are programmers who have done all of this for the past 80 years and continue to do so.
But the evolution of programming languages hasnβt ELIMINATED the problem.
While these improvements do make programming easier, these are NOT quantum leaps.
No amount of improvement to type systems, debugging, static analysis, linters or documentation is going to solve this problem.
Regardless of how nicely the code is written, it still takes time to understand the logic of it and how it's working.
There's a lot of processing required in our brains.
But our brains aren't very good at it.
Our biggest strength is creative thinking.
Computers on the other hand are really good at processing.
With AI...
You will NOT have to write code from scratch.
You will NOT have to maintain code bases.
You will NOT have to understand everything in your code.
You could just give it a PROMPT and it will do the rest for you.
