Edit June 23, 2020: heres the long-needed explanation for why its taking so long to get done. I was procrastinating (***never do this with maps especially if you're a host***), but also working on many other personal projects. I've tried getting back into MAP projects as a participant, but I no longer really feel the drive since I feel the need to work on my comic or try other things.
Since I'm also very edit heavy when editing completed MAPs, I've been feeling burnt out from it which was a similar feeling I had when doing the Music Music MAP (youtu.be/bfDHdsE6ZNQ) which was also extremely tasking. This MAP took way longer because of burn out with MAPs in general and the personal projects wanted to do instead.
Fortunately, thanks to participants of the MAP here, I finally have the drive to finish this once and for all and lay this beauty to rest. After this, I may not make a MAP call in a long time since I dont want to risk abandoning a completed MAP again.
Also, though the thumbnail contest won't be reopening, fanart submissions is! Fanart will be displayed in the credits along with the thumbnail entries. Check below for the links.

[]Self-reflection:
Im honestly pretty proud of this artwork. This year I found out that I actually really enjoy drawing backgrounds, so I thought Id do one thats a little more detailed.
I love the trees that sort of makes the supports of the structure. However, I wished I added a little more depth to this since I feel its a little flat. Its also not that clear that this is a train station.

[]About the drawing/speedpaint:
I came up with this idea when I was in school, which is the idea of Chara and Frisk at a train station looking up at the stars because they will be leaving their world to the next (Fallen World to Stargazers World)
The changes made from the original idea was that the color scheme was going to be reminiscent of the series cover https://hauntedhearts-au.tumblr.com/post/183195324041/series-cover with its bright blues being contrasted with red highlights. I changed it because I didnt want this looking too similar to the cover due to the framing. Another change was that the flooring wasnt going to be normal, but a sea that they stood on. This was changed due to the other platform in the background, so a whole sea wouldnt work as well. This idea was still kept with the red reflection. (I honestly wished I kept the sea flooring)
When I was messing with colors, I did not stick with the white background due to it looking washed out and blurring out details.
I kept this with only red and purple just to have simplicity and so that the red really pops.

[]Song choice:
I thought the songs were fitting for what this artwork represents, which is saying goodbye to the world. First is of Chara singing songs to Frisk and stopping due to how much everything was changing. Frisk trying to sing to Chara, wondering whats wrong as well as noticing how the world is falling apart. Then Chara singing about how they will miss the world and hope they will see Frisk again in the next world.
Blue lyrics is Frisk and red is Chara.
Also funny headcannon, even though both Frisk and Chara in this AU are non-binary and are androgynous, design-wise, Frisk slightly leans more on the masculine side and Chara leans more on the feminine side. But, Chara has a more harsher and slightly more masculine voice as opposed to Frisk, being more lower, softer, and slightly more feminine.
Idk just a random thing. You dont need to follow it.

I am very happy on how this came out! I tried going for a sketchy style with dull and pastel colors which I think looks really nice. You might have noticed, but I used the color palette from the prologue as a sort of call back. Im not sure what else I could have added, maybe more details to the background in the middle. I do think Im getting better at drawing humans!
