Dan Durston is Canada's Cottage Gear Guru, and one of the most innovative and popular backpacking gear designers today. His X-Mid tents continue to sell out as fast as they are manufactured - in no small part because every generation improves upon the last. So when he sent me the X-Mid 1 Pro I decided to see what a 100% Durston shelter would be like: I got the Z-Flick poles (in lieu of trekking poles), and finished off the set with the recommended tent pegs (DAC J-Stake set) and cordage (Reflective Ironwire). All in, this shelter weighed only 28 oz. (793 grams)!
